rebekah hurst (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist and educator from San Antonio, Texas. They use objects, video, and integrated media to realize narratives and spaces as alternatives to systemic structures. Their work explores fluidity through the interplay of institutional language, history, and queer identity.

 

hurst holds a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in New Media and minors in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Institutions they have shown at include the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center, Beco Gallery, Presa House Gallery, The Randy Guthmiller Center for the Advancement of the Arts, and Fl!ght Gallery. They received grants from the Dallas Museum of Art and Greater Denton Arts Council.

 

As an educator, hurst has developed programming with Artpace Inc, the Mammen Family Library, and Ruby City. Currently, they serve as a Fine Arts Educator in the DFW area.
